"White Rock Boathouse" by Ann McCann Now at the Dutch House Gallery

June 12, 2023

“White Rock Boathouse” 16 X 20” Oil at the Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas https://dutchartgallery.net/

This art deco boathouse built in 1930 is now called the Boomerang Boathouse as it is shaped as one, with the point facing the lake. The boathouse is on T&P Hill and this is the back side seen across the water. It sparkles here in the sun with the rosy tan colors reflected in the water.

"Trail to the Wildflower Fields (Connemara)" by Ann McCann 9 X 12" Watercolor

June 09, 2023

I can’t get those golden fields of wildflowers out of my head. What a glorious day of painting that was. Featured here are yellow coneflowers and lilac basket flowers.

"White Rock Lake from the Filter House" by Ann McCann now at the Dutch House Gallery

20 X 20” Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

This is the view of White Rock Lake from the restored Filter House. The lake was once the single source of fresh water for Dallas, filtered in this old plant. You can see the white, 1930s Bath House Cultural Center across the lake.

Ann McCann's Watercolors at the Connemara Wildflower Fields

May 31, 2023

We painted in the wildflower fields of Connemara in Allen, TX on Saturday. What a gorgeous place. You can see some photos below. The prominent flowers in my paintings are the yellow coneflowers and the lavender basket flowers that look like giant thistle. They transported us to the fields on a hay wagon and fed us breakfast under ancient pecan trees.

Ann McCann at White Rock Garden Tour 5-21-23 in Dallas

May 23, 2023

It was a beautiful day at the White Rock Garden Tour. This was my first outdoor art selling event. I had oils, watercolors and watercolor cards. It was fun talking to everyone (1000+ attendees), but quite a task to set up and take down.

"Privy on the Prairie" 8 X 10" Plein Air Oil Painting by Ann McCann

May 03, 2023

We were recently plein air painting in OId City Park in Dallas near a lilac Victorian house. This matching privy out back caught my eye. Pretty cute isn’t it, set in a wildflower garden. It reminded me of my early childhood when my aunt and grandparents in rural Michigan still had outhouses. My grandparents already had indoor bathrooms, but still kept old chamber pots under the beds for night time emergencies!

"Lilac Hearts" by Ann McCann 5 x 7 Watercolor Card

May 01, 2023

I liked painting the heart shaped leaves of the lilac flower. I’m still building up my hand painted greeting card collection for the White Rock Garden Tour on May 21.

"Prairie on Fire" by Ann McCann 12" x 12" Oil

April 27, 2023

I painted this after a weekend of touring the wildflowers in Ennis, Tx and the Hill Country. My brain was on fire with all the bright images in my mind! We are definitely having a super bloom this year.

"Anemones on Bible Hill" by Ann McCann 2' X 2' Oil

April 24, 2023

This is the biggest oil painting I have ever painted! I wanted a square canvas, and this is the only one I found in my stash. Bible Hill overlooks the Old City of Jerusalem and featured lovely red anemones this spring. The castle-like building on the top is the Scottish Guest House, built at the turn of the 1900s by the Presbyterian Church of Scotland.
