“Hydrangea Flow” 10 X 14” Watercolor. Here I created blue hydrangeas that have substance but blurred boundaries that flow together.
“Hydrangea Clouds” 8 X 10” Watercolor. Here I created multicolored hydrangeas that are as soft as clouds.

A realtor friend commissioned me to do a watercolor of this house that she had just sold. She gifted it to the seller. I really like painting house portraits and adding all the little details. Consider one of your house or that of a friend. They make really nice gifts!
I can’t grow these in Dallas, but I really enjoy them when we visit the East Coast, especially Cape Cod. They flourish there and are huge. Love the blues!

As at the beginning of the pandemic, I am again painting watercolors. There is something so transitory about this time period and waiting to get the vaccine, so watercolors seem a more appropriate medium for me. I enjoy their immediacy and transparency.
I thought I would look back over the year and celebrate some of the watercolors I created. I focused on watercolors at the beginning of the pandemic. I needed to do art that was light and uplifting!
I thought I would look back over the year and celebrate some of the paintings I created. This series features a gold gesso underpainting that peaks thru randomly throughout the painting. They really glow!
I thought I would look back over the year and celebrate some of the paintings I created. I love the pink coneflowers that dominate my summer garden, and so I paint them a lot. A friend suggested they look like the wings of angels. Here are some of my best.

This grove of crepe myrtles is gorgeous twice a year when it is in full bloom. It is surrounded by buildings and can get lost in the scene as you drive by. However, I just erase them in my mind as I have done here in the painting. This canvas is a unusual, horizontal shape and would look interesting on your wall.

I captured this scene after a snowfall while visiting in Santa Fe. I wanted to capture the blue shadows of the golden chamisa on the sparkling snow. We were staying way up on a mountainside and could only get out and into town in a truck with giant tires!

I captured this neighborhood scene in Jerusalem last year while visiting for my daughter’s wedding. This plumeria vine had grown into a large tree and cascaded over the stone house and fence. This beautiful blue is startling and not often seen in nature.

These red poppies were blooming at the Wild Seed Farm in Fredericksburg when I visited there a year ago. This is painted on a canvas gallery wrap which is also painted on the sides.
