Continuing with my goal of painting the "perfect" rose, here is another red rose from my garden. I do like it better than day 1!

Day 2 Red Rose (c)Ann McCann 2015
Continuing with my goal of painting the "perfect" rose, here is another red rose from my garden. I do like it better than day 1!
Since I find roses a a difficult subject to paint, I decided to paint them repeatedly for this January 2016 30 Day Challenge. Here is my first one. It is a palette knife painting. The rose was still blooming in my yard here in Dallas.
White Rose of Sharon 9 X 12 Oil $175 (c)Ann McCann 2015
I will again participate in the January 30 Day Painting Challenge. I will start posting new daily paintings on January 1. I will be painting roses and winter scenes. Stay tuned! All will be available for purchase.
View of Brown's Farm Out Back (c)Ann McCann 2015
We were in Connecticut Thanksgiving 2014, and there was a beautiful snowfall. I loved the sunlight and shadows on the pine trees in the early morning. The snow just sparkled....
Storm Coming to Horsebarn Hill (c) Ann McCann 2015
I added cows to the painting. They are in the upper right hand corner. See the closeup of them below. I also added the original picture from which I created the painting.
Here is the original picture without cows!
I painted this from a small study. This larger one is 20 X 20" on a gallery wrap canvas; the sides will be painted. I am still not done with it. I think I will add some cows under the trees on the right at the end of tractor path.
"Dunes Toward PTown" (c)Ann McCann 2015
This is a larger painting that I created from a small study. This illustrates the large beautiful dunes that were loved and painted by Edward Hopper. I photographed the scene last August and then recently painted it in my studio. It was a lovely day with the beautiful light of Cape Cod.
Aspen Shadows (c) Ann McCann 2015
Here are two mini paintings I made for Christmas presents. They are only $65. They are painted on the sides so you could just set them on an easel as well as hang them.

Sunshine on a Cloudy Day (c) Ann McCann 2015
Over the Thanksgiving weekend where it rained everyday, I needed to paint something bright. So, I chose sunflowers. I even had trouble getting enough light to take the photo. These could cheer anyone up!
Autumn at White Rock (c) Ann McCann 2015
This is a fall scene at a nearby river that empties into White Rock Lake in Dallas. Yes, we really do have fall here in North Texas. It is just very late in November. It is a beautiful spot. I am still working on this.......................
Lady Banks Out Back by Ann McCann ©015
This Lady Banks rose blooms all over my ancient pecan tree every spring. It is quite a golden yellow sight. It doesn't last long so I needed to capture the memory in a painting.
Giant Orange Hibiscus by Ann McCann (c) 2015
I finally finished this large orange hibiscus by adding the center "style." That centerpiece really jumps out at you. Actually, the whole painting is vibrating with all the complementary colors, orange/blue and yellow/purple. It is not a quiet painting! I will be exhibiting this piece at my show in February 2016.
Red Hot Crapes by Ann McCann (c) 2015
Thanks to my friends for buying this. I do love this painting of my neighborhood!
Tropical Flowers by Ann McCann (c) 2015
Have you ever visited Sanibel Island, better known as shell island? It is a beautiful place off the Florida coast near Fort Myers. You can drive to it over the water. The bougainvillea were gorgeous, and we shelled on the beach for hours and hours. There are alligators too! Below you can see the photo I used for this painting.
