This is a painting sketch for a larger one. I wanted to paint tulips and bought them while they were all wrapped up. when I got them home, I realized they were the frilly, double ones, almost like roses. So, they will be more challenging. They are pretty though.

This bouquet of blue hydrangeas lasted all week while we were on vacation at Cape Cod. I snapped some photos so I could paint it at home. They grow into magnificent bushes there. I cannot for the life of me grow them here in Texas. But, I can paint them!

Our crape myrtles are so beautiful this year. So, I keep painting them. I love that they are juxtaposed to our old arts and crafts homes here in old East Dallas. You can also see the heat in the air, in the low 100s most days in August.

I have several of these paintings with different flowers and background colors- also pansies, roses and fuchsia. A grouping of them would be beautiful.

I tried to capture the look of my street on a very hot day with the crape myrtles in full bloom. I think I did it! This is a palette knife painting of the crapes that border the street and my neighbor's wonderful Arts and Crafts bungalow. Our houses on a hill above the street with curvy "waterfall" steps.
