I created this in a workshop by Sophia Rodionov with many post-tweaks. She had a bomb alarm during the workshop (in Haifa), and we had to take a 10 minute break!
Ann McCann at the Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas
We have three new paintings by Ann McCann in the gallery. Ann sees her paintings as a memory palace, preserving recollections of joyful moments and the beauty that surrounds them. She favors flowers and floral landscapes and colors that glow.
Texas Gold by Ann McCann
20×16 inches | Watercolor on Watercolor Paper
"Texas Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush are usually found together in the spring. The blue and orange colors complement each other and light up the Texas fields. Here the Paintbrush is accented with gold flowing from the flower centers."
Texas Two-Step by Ann McCann
20×16 inches | Watercolor on Watercolor Paper
"Texas Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush are usually found together in the spring. The blue and orange colors complement each other and light up the Texas fields. The perfume of the Bluebonnets is heavenly."
Valley House Iris by Ann McCann
18×24 inches | Oil on Cradled Panel
"Valley House Gallery sits on five acres in North Dallas. There is a lovely sculpture garden there with a small pond surrounded by iris. This painting shows the spring bloom of these iris against the dark woods that lies behind it."
Happy Valentines Day! from Ann McCann 5 X 7" Watercolor
Red Hot Poppies by Ann McCann 5 X 7" Watercolor
Still working on my small painting inventory for art walks this spring. Each of these take me hours.
"Stargazer" by Ann McCann 5 X 7" Watercolor
I can even smell this one!
Can't Wait Til Spring. "Triple Coneflowers" by Ann McCann 5 X 7" Watercolor.
I’m working on my small painting inventory in anticipation of 2026 art fairs. I love the pink coneflowers that dominate my front yard every summer.
Turquoise Tropical Floral (Hibiscus) by Ann McCann 12 X 16" Watercolor
I decided to paint with some new tools, watercolor pencils and glitter paints. The turquoise outline is in pencil which reacts with water just like the paint. The silver sparkles are on the flowers and the hummingbird though they do not show up well in the photo. The painting really sparkles!
Preston Hollow (Dallas) House Portrait by Ann McCann 9 x 22" Watercolor & Ink
My first painting of the year, another house portrait. A local Mom had me paint house portraits for both her sons for Christmas presents. This is the largest portrait I have ever painted as the house is both tall and very long. As an interesting note, many of the mature trees on this lot were destroyed by a tornado a few years ago.
House Portraits by Ann McCann 9 X 12" Watercolor and Ink
I’ve been busy creating house portraits for holiday presents. Here is the first one finished. Notice the dog sculpture in front. This was an important detail for the client as well as the red tulips and open door with light pouring out!
"Urban Cowgirl" by Ann McCann 9 X 12" Watercolor
This is for all you former and current cowgirls. She looks ready for the holidays! This was inspired by a flower sculpture that was exhibited at North Park Center last spring. Available at the Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas.
"Angel Gold" by Ann McCann 5 X 7" Watercolor
Here’s an angel to watch over you this holiday season, and throughout the year.
"Winter Berries" by Ann McCann 12 x 12" Watercolor
There are many berries here, red, pink and gold. Definitely in the holiday spirit.
