I took an online watercolor course by Pamela Harnois last week, and this is the result. It is so fun to create her loose and flowy flowers.
"Crape Bouquet" by Ann McCann 11 X 14" Watercolor
The crape myrtle trees are blooming now, and I love the variety of colors, from red to purple. I have made several bouquets that I have displayed on my dining room table. See photo below.
"Natives" by Ann McCann 12 X 16" Watercolor
These are the flowers that flourish here in my Texas garden, pink coneflowers and purple Mexican saliva. This is one of my favorite watercolors.
"Sun Faces" by Ann McCann 9 X 12" Plein Air Oil
I painted this standing in front of a Texas sunflower field. I had long wanted to do just that. It was hot (close to 100 degrees), we were spread out due to Covid concerns, but we had fun!
SOLD "Rose of My Heart" by Ann McCann 5 X 7" Watercolor
This favorite rose I painted was sold by the Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas. Thank you Dutch Art Gallery!
SOLD "Texas Wildflower Bouquet" by Ann McCann 12 X 12" Oil
A Texas collector purchased this painting of mine. She will think of spring in Texas whenever she gazes at the bluebonnets, orange paintbrush and pink primroses.
"Flower Beach" by Ann McCann 9 X 12" Oil
Imagine our delight when we went to paint plein air at Mayo beach (Wellfleet, MA), and it was covered with wildflowers, pink phlox and other purple flowers. We went in July this summer instead of August when the flowers are gone. We had the beach to ourselves that morning, and it was cool and wonderful.
SOLD "Field of Sunshine" by Ann McCann 12 X 12" Oil
I finally got to paint a field of sunflowers last summer and it was a glorious day. Our group of plein air painters were worried about Covid, so we painted in a long, staggered line.
"Stargazers" by Ann McCann 7 X 11" Watercolors
I worked on watercolors of Stargazer lilies this weekend. They are one of my favorite flowers though their scent can become overpowering, and the cinnamon colored stamens make a mess. What we sacrifice for beauty!
"Cottage by the Sea" by Ann McCann 9 X 12" Oil
Here is another view from our Wellfleet cottage window of the wildflower field and the harbor beyond.
"Gold on the Harbor" by Ann McCann 9 X 12" Oil
I’m back home from Wellfleet MA and missing this scene from my bedroom window. I would look out over a wildflower field with gold finches and the ocean in the background. It was lovely. This is goldenrod with some tiny lilac flowers.
"Pines in the Morning" by Ann McCann 8 X 10" Oil
This is the view I see every morning from my Connecticut house, the early light reflected on the pine trees. From the forest comes the song of the wood thrushes that sounds like bells ringing.
"Ann's Lace" by Ann McCann 10 X 8" Oil
Queen Ann’s Lace dominates the wildflower fields here in Connecticut. Since she is a queen, I decided to to embellish her a bit.
"Hot Pink Peony" by Ann McCann 11 X 11" Watercolor
This painting screams summer in Texas, hot and bright. The “confetti” dots look like fireworks.
