This is not a commonly painted flower, but a field of them is gorgeous. I see a field of them every morning, glowing in the yellow sunlight. The goldfinches like them too!

When I am on vacation, I like to do small watercolors of my favorite scenes. They are fairly quick and are lovely memories. Sometimes they end up as oil paintings when I get home to my studio. This scene was in Chatham, the town where we stayed in Cape Cod.

I have spent many hours gazing at these pine trees as the early morning sun shines through them. The light sparkles and bounces all around the trunks and the grass.

I was going for color here, and I think I achieved it, glowing red and lavender poppies with turquoise flower buds!
"Tuscan Stone Cottage" by Ann McCann 12 X 12" Oil
This was fun, painting the stone walls and tile roof. The flowers really enhance the ancient walls. This is another painting from Dreama’s Timeless Tuscany course.

Looking at these gladioli make me happy so I named this painted “Gladness.” These flowers glow as they have an underpainting of rose and magenta. You can see that layer showing around the petal edges and in the flower centers. I have an old french door like the one featured here in my 1922 home in Old East Dallas.
