This is the first of four canvases from my painting trip to Scotland that I have finished. In a town of gray and black stone, this coral building really stood out. I fell in love with the flower baskets.
"Sunshine on a Rainy Day" by Ann McCann 9 X 12" Oil
I painted this on a dark gloomy day, and the sunflowers lit up the studio!

This is a wildflower meadow on White Rock Lake near my house. At the time, many daisy-like flowers and Queen Anne's Lace were blooming. The blue bonnets and paintbrush were fading.

Ann McCann's Paintings 20% Off in July 2019
All my paintings are 20% off this month, both at the College of Dentistry show and my online store.
This painting was done plein air, outdoors, with all the dreadful mosquitoes who love me even with tons of bug spray on! Anyway, it is for a plein air exhibit in August.

“Denise’s Geraniums” by Ann McCann 9 X 12” oil
I was in a “red” mood and fancied my friend’s geraniums. I also like her vintage home which is partially seen in the background here. I am still in a “red” mood so you may see some more red paintings.

"City Prairie Garden" by Ann McCann 9 X 12" Oil
I am continuing to paint plein air in my neighborhood. On my block is a lovely wildflower garden filled with butterflies. I did this small painting there sitting in the hot sun for several hours. I am working on a larger version in my much cooler studio.
"Flower Gate" by Ann McCann 9 X 12" Oil
I have been doing plein air paintings around my neighborhood, ones that are totally done outside. Yes, you have to carry all the equipment to the site and battle the wind, sun and bugs. And the mosquitoes are awful now! Anyway, I love my neighbor’s gate with the “waterfall” steps (conservation neighborhood requirement), the red cannas and white rose of sharon, all back lit by the morning sun.
"Cone Flower Porch" by Ann McCann 11 X 14" Oil
Everyone liked the photo of my front yard with cone flowers so much that I decided to paint it. The architecture took more time than I thought. It was a relief to go loose and free with the flowers!
"Tulip Glow" by Ann McCann 9 X 12" Oil
This is a tulip garden at the Dallas Arboretum. They were glowing in the sun that day and I tried to capture that with warm, transparent color.
