Pink and Red Poppies by Ann McCann 9 X 12 Oil
I have been wanting to paint this image for a while now. I spent last Sunday creating it. Love the pink poppies! Since the Dutch Art Gallery just sold my "Plein Air Poppies," the owner asked me to paint some more for the gallery!
Ann McCann is in the Dutch Art Gallery's Fall 2017 Show
Come and see my painting at this great show!
"Color Tour Memories" by Ann McCann Watercolor Sketch
My husband and I took a color tour to Connecticut and Massachusetts in October. I did a lot of watercolor sketches in preparation for creating some oil paintings. We visited a forest owned by Yale University that was way "off the grid." We didn't see any other cars while we were there. This was a lovely stream surrounded by fall color.
Marsh at Blackfish Creek by Ann McCann 14 X 18 Oil
This is a beautiful marsh that you can see from Highway 6 but there is no place to pull off the road. You have to stand on a fence to photo it. Despite that, I try to paint it every year. It is an iconic scene for Wellfleet, MA. I am still working on this......................
SOLD- "Plein Air Poppies" by Ann McCann 5 X 7 Oil
I painted this at the Wild Seed Gardens in Fredericksburg, TX in the Hill Country. They have gorgeous poppy fields in the spring. It was sold by the Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas. Thank you to whoever bought it!

SOLD- "Gothic Sky" by Ann McCann 9 X 12 Oil
I painted this one on the roof top of the Amadeus Hotel in the old Jewish Quarter in Seville, May 2016. Oh what fun that trip was. This is the skyline view of a cathedral and other Gothic buildings nearby. I am so glad that a fellow traveler bought it!
SOLD "After Party Gerberas" by Ann McCann 8 X 8 Oil
At my house party after my opening last Friday, we had a bouquet of gerbera daisies. My friend Tom said he would like a painting of the orange daisy with a turquoise background. I said I would give it a try. I painted it today, and it flowed like a easily. That doesnt happen a lot for me. I usually have to work much harder. My friend was very pleased and bought it!
"Crape Sky" 20 X 20 Oil (c) Ann McCann 2017
"Crape Sky" by Ann McCann 20 X 20 Oil
Here is another painting I did on my journey towards abstraction. This is as comfortable as I can get with abstraction now. I still like to recognize the objects. These are giant crape myrtle blossoms against the sky. It was very fun to paint. It felt good from beginning to end..
"Blue Iris Ladder" 12 X 12 Oil (c) Ann McCann 2017

Here's another painting I sold at my show on Friday, October 6, 2017. I have enjoyed this one in my office for a while now, but I am glad it is going to a good home!
SOLD- Oleander Park by Ann McCann 9 X 12 Oil
This painting that I did of the city park in Seville sold at my show on Friday. The buyer like my composition, the flowering oleander in the foreground, then receding in the distance, the lamp post, palm tree and finally church spire. That is what I had in mind when I painted it!

"Path to Where?" 22 X 28" Oil (c) Ann McCann 2017
Almost Done- "Path to Where?" by Ann McCann 22 X 28" Oil
I am just about done with this painting, maybe some minor changes yet. I plan to submit this for a peer-reviewed fall show with the theme of "hidden" things. My "hidden" would be the end of the path.
