30 Day Challenge- Day 30 Winter's Bones XI. "Snowy Woods" 9 X 12 Oil by Ann McCann

Well, this is the last day of the painting challenge.  Since the Northeast is buried in snow, I thought I would paint a snow picture.  This scene is in Texas but one a year ago.  It makes me think of the Robert Frost poem, "the woods are lovely, dark and deep."  My artist friend said Dallasites never buy snow paintings, so maybe one of my Northern friends will be interested!

30 Day Challenge- Day 29. Winter's Bones X "My Crape" by Ann McCann 5 X 7 Oil

This is a beautiful old crape myrtle in front of my house.  It is probably from the early 1920s.  We lost a big piece of it in an ice storm several years ago, but it still looks great all year round.  There are giant bright pink blooms all summer and the shiny apricot bark all winter.

I caught the last light over the lake in this painting.  The sky was glowing and the water shimmered with oranges and pinks.  The dark tree skeleton and shore anchored the scene.

Continuing with my "kicky" colors, here is an old fashion pink rose with a screaming orange background.

I liked the red rose I did yesterday so much that I decided to do another!  Since I believe that most of you like color, I am going for kicky color for the rest of this challenge.

I already put a sneak preview of this rose out there as I was experimenting with linking Instagram and Facebook.  I am working toward painting a large rose after this challenge is over and this might be my prototype.  It was fun to paint.

Here is another "white" rose.  The background is really more purple than blue but that is what my camera does.

It got down to 28 degrees last night in Dallas but the roses are still intact. So, I snuck down to the local school and picked some out front!  Enjoy! 

30 Day Challenge- Day 21. Winter's Bones VII by Ann McCann 5 X 7 Oil

I saw this scene at sunset on White Rock Lake in Dallas.  The tree skeleton really stood out against the brilliant sky.

Today's  painting is another winter tree scene.  This is again on White Rock Lake in Dallas.  I especially loved the color of the water and the tree reflections.

I liked the white rose I did yesterday so much that I painted another single one today. Of course a white rose isn't really white but various shades of yellow, pink and violet.  I like the transparent orange center!

30 Day Challenge- Day 18 Roses by Ann McCann 10 X 10 Oil

I again painted the butterfly roses but on a larger canvas.   I also added a white rose in the upper right hand corner.  A frost was scheduled so I picked a big bouquet.  The painting isn't this dark, but it was a cloudy day when I photographed it.

I painted another butterfly rose today.  I tried to be much looser with my strokes.  I'm pleased with the result!
