Here is another "white" rose.  The background is really more purple than blue but that is what my camera does.

It got down to 28 degrees last night in Dallas but the roses are still intact. So, I snuck down to the local school and picked some out front!  Enjoy!

I saw this scene at sunset on White Rock Lake in Dallas.  The tree skeleton really stood out against the brilliant sky.

Today's  painting is another winter tree scene.  This is again on White Rock Lake in Dallas.  I especially loved the color of the water and the tree reflections.

I liked the white rose I did yesterday so much that I painted another single one today. Of course a white rose isn't really white but various shades of yellow, pink and violet.  I like the transparent orange center!

I again painted the butterfly roses but on a larger canvas.   I also added a white rose in the upper right hand corner.  A frost was scheduled so I picked a big bouquet.  The painting isn't this dark, but it was a cloudy day when I photographed it.

I painted another butterfly rose today.  I tried to be much looser with my strokes.  I'm pleased with the result!

This is a "butterfly" rose which comes in combinations of 3 colors- white, pink and yellow. They only have five petals, and they do look like butterflies in flight.

This is a scene on Turtle Creek in Highland Park, a city within Dallas.  I was struck by the reflections of the skeleton trees in the creek.

Another rose for the painting challenge. This is a very wine/blue one.  I love the little bud in the right hand corner.

I do love that winter sky.  Although I just painted what I saw, it does looks like Van Gogh was inspiring me.

Today I tackled a white rose as well as a drooping pink one. I may add a leaf or two in the upper right hand corner.   I liked the droopy rose the best!

I like this rose because it had so much depth to it, with many layers, like a piece of sculpture. It challenged me quite a bit, but I kept going.  I think the struggle made it better and more 3 dimensional.

Here is another painting from a walk around White Rock Lake over the December holidays. The stark contrast of the tree skeletons against the beautiful winter sky really attracted me.
